I have to admit as much as I love Ms. Clarkson, this album just isn't as great as it could have been. Though her vocals are truly amazing in each track, the songs just lack in style and emotion. The songs "What's Up Lonely" and "Beautiful Disaster" are the weakest songs in the album, it felt like she was forced to sing the song. Even though the cd had a lot of weak points in it, it had some huge moments in it, like the dance-pop style of "Miss Independent" and the two amazing R&B songs "Some Kind Of Miracle" and "The Trouble With Love Is". The title track "Thankful" is a very bland song but it truly showed Kelly's soulful side in her. The last three songs which happens to be ballads are very good song but "Anytime" truly outshined the rest. "Before Your Love" is a very great way to end the CD showing off Kelly's amazing vocals, the note truly showed why she won American Idol. This CD is good but it's not great as we know Kelly is capable of. I feel like the songs her label chose didn't reflect how Kelly felt at that time in her career and weren't chosen with any effort. The purpose was to show off her versitility but it was not a sucessful one. The songs just doesn't gel together. The album for me is just a very decent mediocre debut.
