hey yo

so yeah

i read up on kelly's thank you section in her album, currently found on my favourite kelly fansite and i must admit i'm kinda disappointed.

loved her spirit and honesty (esp. when she said she sometimes wanted to punch her manager in the face! lol Smiling) but my, oh my, the girl say the "a" word just one too many times. yeah, like, even ONE time is too much, considering how i see her as an awesome role model for young girls everywhere.

she uses the words "kick a**" and "bad a**" for a total of four times. four times too many for me and the young'ns who listen to her music and look up to her and most likely try to be like her (which i don't believe is inapproriate at all. at least possibly up until now...)

now, i admit, i'm a swearer myself when i'm pissed, but i'm still that hypocritical kind of older sister who wouldn't allow my younger sister to swear.

recently, i heard in an interview by kelly that she would never swear in public or in front of children because that would be really embarassing. so i ask, why swear in your thank you section that kids might read?

now i do understand that kelly is now 25 and a grown woman who should be able to say what's on her mind and not hide things, or in other words, be dishonest and unreal. but really, couldn't she have said "kick butt" in her album cover instead of using the "a" word?

i also know that kelly has admitted that she has a quick tongue and can curse like a sailor when not in public, which i'll admit that i do the same as well, so some might say, "hey, then why not let kelly be herself? and let her write how she normally talks?" well, 'cause, again, even though 'my december' isn't as mainstream as her last two albums and therefore she and the big honchos at rca might believe that fewer younger people will listen to it, she did still have young fans who liked her older stuff who WILL buy her new album.

one could also argue that the people who may connect with kelly the most are those in her age bracket, that is, age 20 and up, and that would be people who swear and understand when and how to swear appropriately (i.e. not in public or in front of children). but come on, i really believe that kelly is giving the WRONG message by using the word "a**" in her album cover. please think of the young ones.

and yes, i do also understand that a lot of you would be like, "heck, it shows that's she's real! i myself swear ALL the time!" and yes, as i admitted, i do swear as well, but i'm not a role model for millions of young people and with a public tongue like that, i wouldn't like kelly to be a role model for my younger sister or any other young person, if i was allowed to say so myself.

yeah, i'm a hypocrite at the swearing, but when i swear, and only at home when i'm super pissed, my sister and family know me well enough to understand where i'm coming from and won't judge me on it or swear to be like me. kelly, on the other hand, is someone who not ALL young music listeners understand and who WILL judge her and try to be like her and this could be a problem because:

a) it could put her in the same poor role model category as avril lavigne (who swears worse than a sailor, i swear) and thus may force kids to turn to another role model, which would be a complete shame

or

b) kids might start swearing or at least start saying the "A" word and then justify it or defend themselves to their parents by saying, "but kelly clarkson said/says it!" and then, poof. the public could possibly turn into a swearing frenzy, just like the let's-half-dress-like-britney frenzy.

on the last note, i.e. b), i believe that the swearing pandemic just might happen considering i've previoulsy read the blog of a young girl who wasn't allowed to get her nose pierced. but once she told her mom that kelly clarkson got HERS pierced, her mother quickly allowed it.

this is defintely an important issue to think about, especially for kelly. i understand that kelly wants to be herself and rock out and express herself the way she loves to best, which i think is completely awesome, but, kelly, do remember to think about the young people who look up to you.

kelly, you said it yourself shortly after you won american idol 1 and so far you seemed to have lived up to your quote: "I also think that the industry could use a little class". to me, and i think to a lot of others, not swearing in public = class.

kelly, i still believe in you. i hope you have good reasons in at least one of your upcoming interviews for the expletives used in your album booklet (and REAL expletives! unlike in that ridiculous tmz video today...).

so, kelly, please, please, PLEASE. i know you don't change or act for anyone but yourself, which i admire and think is a great sense of character, but, please remember your fans and your quote. you gave me soooo much hope for a star or role model to believe in and look up to. please don't spoil it now. please. thank you, kel.

Smiling...i hope.

*ps - this blog is just an opinion. you may disagree, but please but courteous about it. thank you.
