This was one long delayed meet n greet! The show was originally scheduled in September but got postponed twice for health reasons. The show was the best I had seen kelly thus far and the crowd loved every moment. Her final song was 'Breakaway' and I had to leave my gift bag at the door for safe keeping. My seats were on the floor of the Irvine Bren Center and I sprinted up four flights of stairs! I wanted to make sure that once that song was complete, I'd be ready to go! The song finished, audience cheers, leaves and the 30 to 40 of us including fan club, vitamin water, and radio winners had to hang for what seemed like forever but was actually 15 or so minutes. We all filed in line to the spot for the meet n greet and it was cold! There were some rules and one of which was no gift giving and I told security "I've had to wait three months and now your telling me I have to mail it? What!" They wised up and let us leave them outside of the room. When it was my turn, I was so anxious! I think Kelly has that innate ability to make people talk faster than they usually do. I got to tell her who I was, and what I do and how I was finishing my debut album while holding down a day job. Literally, all she said was 'Wow! Good for you!' and got a few hugs probably to calm me down. She complimented my Hendrix shirt. Pinky snapped the picture and I was promptly pointed towards the door. I'm sitting here typing this a year and a half later with such a defined moment in my memory. Any hang time with Kelly is great! Next time I won't ramble as much.
