"Never Again" is Kelly Clarkson's first single off her new album, 'My December'. When the song was first released to radio, I heard it, and after listening to it, it sounded a bit like "Behind These Hazel Eyes", except she was more upset with her ex in this song ("Never Again").
This song kind of reminds me of the songs that Pat Benatar sing and also it reminds me of that one song by Alanis Morissette - "You Oughta Know".
I've heard the KIIS-FM Ryan Seacrest interview with Kelly Clarkson and she said that "this is one of the most bitter songs" that she's "ever written".
Keep in mind, Clarkson wrote this song nearly two years ago... so it was something she wrote at the time when that happened. She needed to vent out how she felt. I know how that's like because I'm a musician myself, and I write my own song lyrics based on personal experiences.
Anyway, the grading sheet is in.
I think "Never Again" is a powerful song because of the pain of relationships when the one you thought you loved and trusted, actually leaves you and doesn't love you.
