I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...It was 2005 before I had even heard of Kelly and I have never seen AI. I moved from Australia and was working all the time and never really watched TV or listened to the radio. My friend called me from Australia and told me she had seen Kelly in concert and she was (and I quote) "a great rocker chick, Pat Benatar & Madonna rolled into one, but with a better voice than both.." and I should check her out, so I did and have been a fan ever since. I am a fan because I admire her honesty in her music as well as her life. I am a little older than many of her fans (ok, alot older) and am really loving her newer music, as it does appeal to me alot more, its raw and honest and reflects, I think, the complexities that life has to offer. I really love that she is still so down to earth, and that she values her friends and family so much and she really gives her younger fans a positive image and has a positive affect on them. Growing up (and still now) was/is a huge Pat Benatar fan, and I see a lot of similarities between the two performers. I am so happy that Kelly is able to be such a great performer (without the drugs & drama) and produce wonderful music. I am so looking forward to 'My December' being released, it is exactly the type of music I love; and there is nothing better than someone who can write and perform their own songs, it gives them a different intensity, an ownership that is not always reflected when they sing other peoples material. It is also great to see an artist that values their fans, appreciates them and actually looks like they like and enjoy them, I think that is pretty rare today; and that will keep me as a fan not just for one song, or album but for her entire career. I am going to my first Kelly concert next month in Kansas City and I am really looking forward to it...and I haven't been to a concert in a while, so I know it is going to be great and it will be a pleasure to watch such a great performer live.
